Concealed Carry Training

Target World’s Concealed Carry Course is designed to meet the requirements set forth by Ohio law to be able to carry concealed. Effective February 23, 2015, Ohio law requires a total of 8 hours of training – 6 hours classroom and 2 hours on the range.

Our professional instructors are NRA certified and are prepared to assist you above and beyond the minimum state requirements. Because we have the range on-site, we are able to achieve a smooth transition from the classroom to the range without having to worry about inclement weather or other disctractions.

To sign-up, call the store at 513-772-3343 or stop by. The course cost is $99.99 and payment is required to reserve a training spot. Before taking this course, you should have some familiarity with and be comfortable firing a handgun. For those that have not shot before, we recommend taking the Basic Handgun training class or at least coming to the range on a date prior to the Concealed Carry class to practice and gain a comfort level with your handgun.

For the class, bring a pen and paper for notes. You are also welcome to bring drinks or small snacks….items that will not disturb class with opening wrappers etc.. For lunch, you get a half hour for lunch to eat in class or there are several fast food restaurants nearby.

You can bring your own handgun or, if you do not have one, you can rent one of ours and buy our ammo for it. For ammunition, you will be required to shoot 50 rounds during the class. If you do not have your own, we sell it at the store and you can buy it when you arrive for class. You are welcome to bring your own eye and ear protection, or borrow ours.

We recommend avoiding sandals and low cut tops. Hot brass ejected from guns can be very uncomfortable.

A Few Notes About Some Of What Differentiates Target World’s Concealed Carry Training From Others Is:

Our instructors are extremely well qualified. In addition to previous real life experiences, whether it be law enforcement or military, many of our instructions have been teaching for Target World since Ohio adopted concealed carry in 2004. Every one of our courses are reviewed by the students and all of the feedback is reviewed by our management team. Almost without exception, our instructors receive the highest ratings and, in our opinion, are the best in the business.
Training is conducted on-site at Target World. With the range on-site, we are able to achieve a smooth transition from the classroom to the range without having to worry about inclement weather or other distractions.

Note To Outside Training Instructors: Target World does not allow outside instructors to use our range for training. There are three main reasons for this:

From an insurance perspective, outside instructors are not covered by our insurance policy. If any incident happened that resulted in a lawsuit or injury, we would not be covered.
We have to limit scheduled activities such as outside concealed carry classes in order to keep the range open to the public. We never know when our range will be full, so with few exceptions, we do not allow groups to schedule our range for use. If instructors were to be tying up lanes for extended periods, during busy times customers coming in to shoot would have unnecessarily long waits to get on a lane.
Finally, we are a business that offers concealed carry training and having an on-site range is one of our differentiating advantages. Allowing outside instructors to use our range is in conflict with this.

In the past, we have had to turn away outside training classes that showed up to shoot which can be awkward for both the instructor and Target World. We appreciate your understanding and we are firm on this policy.
